Naruto and Sasuke "Friends from the beginning, friends till the end."
Naruto and Sasuke have important role in Naruto Shippuden.
Naruto jealous of Sasuke
Even though Sasuke was not equal in compare to Itachi, he still was an Uchiha after all. Other classmates saw the power and strength of him and used to be jealous. Sasuke was also popular among girls. One of the most envious was Naruto, who wished to be as strong and popular as Sasuke.
BOTH lost their Parents
Naruto had lost his parents before he could even know anythings. To protect Konoha and to seal Nine Tail Fox chakra, Minato and Kushina gave their life. After losing them, he spent his childhood most of the time Alone.
Sasuke also had similar experience. Lost his parents while growing up and ended up being the only Uchiha survivor (along with Uchiha Itachi). Sasuke knew what is Parent Love and care whereas Naruto never got to experience it.
Naruto, Sasuke's first friend
When Sasuke was young, he used to train hard with his brother, Itachi. Itachi was closest person to Sasuke, but he ruined it when he destroyed his clan. After that event, Sasuke didn't socialize, he only wanted to revenge Itachi by killing him.
At first, Naruto was not so close to Sasuke, but when time moved on, Sasuke began to feel bit comfortable with his companion in 'Team 7'. Though he wouldn't admit it, Naruto became the first person he cared for since losing his family. He even acknowledged in the final battle that he is the only friend he has and wanted to erase that relation too.
Naruto vs Sasuke - Final battle
The Final Battle of Naruto and Sasuke happened at the Valley of the End. Just when the Great Ninja War was about to come to an end by undoing the 'Infinite Tsukuyomi' jutusu (Naruto had Tailed Beast chakra and Sasuke possessed the Rinnegan, by weaving the sign of rat simultaneously, they could undo the jutsu) But Sasuke refuses to agree on this and puts all Tailed Beasts under genjutsu. Then they both continue to fight till the death, both uses their ultimate jutsus and fight with everything they got. Until both runs out of charka and uses their last inch of power left to compete with Sasuke's Chidori and Naruto's Rasengan.
In the end both loses their one hand and fight can be said as draw. Though Sasuke claims that he "Lost" and asks Naruto to transplant his left Rinnegan eye into Kakashi and stop Infinite Tsukuyomi after he is dead. Still Naruto is Kind as always and tells Sasuke to 'Live' and help him. By hearing Naruto's words at this stage Sasuke can't stop his tears from falling and turns the other way.
